Sideshow Collectibles has partnered with the legendary effects artists at Stan Winston Studios to give fans a state-of-the-art collectible from this year’s upcoming film, Iron Man.

Shipping in 3rd quarter of this year, fans will be able to get their own life-size bust of Iron Man’s armor cast in high-quality fiberglass. Developed directly from the armor used in the film, the 1:1 scale bust will feature LED light-up eyes and stand 19" from the bottom of the base to the top of the helmet. At a $699.99 SRP, fans will pay for quality and authenticity, but this is sure to be an amazing addition to any collection.

Below are photos of several key characters from the upcoming film, Watchmen, director Zach Snyder’s (300) adaptation of Alan Moore’s epic graphic novel. Fans of Watchmen may find these costumes too much of a departure from the brighter costumes found in the original novel; but they should not be surprised at the level of license taken. The design certainly echos Moore’s original creation, with a color scheme updated for the darker, more gritty style in which harsher comic book films are shot. Fans of The Incredible Hulk were out in full force in January, using their collective dollars to make Hulk #1, featuring the creative team of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness, the top-selling book for the first month of the year.

Hulk #1 moved 134,000 issue in January, beating the controversial "Brand New Day" storyline currently running in Spider-man. The success is a testament to the collector’s popularity following last year’s epic World War Hulk storyline.

The Marvel Universe will be extending to online social network, Facebook, with their first application to the massive website. This new Marvel app will be the hub of the Marvel Universe on Facebook and allow fans to search the entire Marvel Digital Universe Collection, launched in November of last year. Facebook is one of the most traveled websites in the United States; and while many companies have chosen to promote through MySpace, Marvel felt Facebook better served the company’s needs thanks to their many application possibilities.

Fans who complete the Marvel application will be able to look at free sample digital comics, browse Marvel’s Digital library (which contains over 3,000 titles), select favorites, and find out what digital comics their friends also enjoy. Marvel’s profile on Facebook will also feature image galleries, videos and upcoming info on hot Marvel properties like their in-house films, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. This is the first major effort from one of comics’ two major publishers, Marvel and DC, to use the highly-popular socializing networks, and Marvel is sure to please old friends and gain some new ones through the endeavor.

Last week, Warner Premiere released Justice League: The New Frontier, their second straight-to-DVD, PG-13 animated film from the DC Universe; and today, they sent us some great info on one of the film’s voice actors, the much beloved Neil Patrick Harris, voice of The Flash.

Harris is a fan-favorite to the online community, and his involvement in this feature, based on the landmark DC Comics graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke, brings even more credibility to an already-fantastic production package. The film, produced by Bruce Timm of Batman: The Animated Series fame explores the action-packed origins of the Justice League. In addition to Harris, the all-star voice cast includes Kyle MacLachlan (Superman), David Boreanaz (Green Lantern), Lucy Lawless (Wonder Woman), Brooke Shields (Carol Ferris), Kyra Sedgwick (Lois Lane), Jeremy Sisto (Batman), Miguel Ferrer (Martian Manhunter), and Phil Morris (King Faraday).

Harris offered some of his thoughts on working on the critically-acclaimed animated feature.

“To voice a super hero is phenomenal. …I could’ve been the sixth-super-hero-on-the-right and I’d have been happy, but Flash actually gets to help save the day, so this is great. …This medium isn’t entirely technical – they hire you because they like the flavor and color you provide to the pallet,"

"I find recording the script is very inflection based, so you have to sort of leave your individuality and ego at the door and do what they tell you to do. You do a great grunt that’s supposed to start with an “o” and you say ‘raaaar’ and they say ‘yes, but you started with an “r” so do it this way.’ It’s very interesting because you have to be very specific to whatever the script calls for. …In animation, we record the voices much earlier then they animate the characters, so they have to be very specific in their direction – and then when you come back for pick-ups, they’ve already animated the characters and there’s no room for interpretation. You do a two-second ‘ugh’ or a four-second ‘ugh’, depending on how the character has already been animated.”

“For me, the most exciting part of being a voice in an animated character in anything is that the lag time is so long that by the time you see it, you’re an audience member like everybody else, …When I finally get to see the animation, I barely remember what the lines were – which is great because not only do I get to be in it, but I get the fan perspective on it, too."

A self-admitted comic book fan, Harris spends time perusing his local stores in search for his own favorite titles. “I like the impressive art designs of comics,” Harris said. “I’m not so keen on outer worlds and strange proper nouns, but I like Alex Ross and some of the artists like that, so I find myself at the comics store every three or four months doing some shopping."
